The Glory of God
(Psalm 96:1-13)

God
dwells in glory.
The glory of God is eternal (Ps 145:1).
He created heaven (Mt 3:17)
so that He could delight in glory. This heaven is spiritual
and it is outside the universe (Ps 96:5-6).
He placed glory in heaven (Ps 113:4)
and this glory is God’s name (Ps 96:8).
Those who are in heaven, the angels,
honor glory (Ps 29:1-2).
Therefore,
heaven is glorious (Ps 19:1),
the angels are angels of glory (Lk 9:26)
and glory is God’s eternal possession (Ps 104:31).
The Lord
dwelt in glory with the Father before creation (Jn 17:5),
was made lower than the angels for a little while (Heb 2:9)
and came to the world in flesh (Phil 2:7).
He went up to heaven again
and sat at the right hand of the glorious throne (Mk 16:19) -
this is the spiritual heaven God created (Heb 1:3).
He will
come again in glory with the angels (Lk 9:26).
◎ Worship is glory towards God
and this glory should be worthy of Him.
◎ Prayer is the glory God receives
and this glory should be worthy of Him.
◎ Since God’s name is His glory,
you should give Him
the glory due His name.
Faith
is knowing the Lord (who dwells in glory)
and giving glory that is worthy of Him.
