Isaiah 43:1-3
1 But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.
2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you. 3 For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Read 22" class="scriptRef">Isaiah 42:22 22 But his own people have been robbed and plundered, enslaved, imprisoned, and trapped. They are fair game for anyone and have no one to protect them, no one to take them back home. Can you relate?
I have walked through the valley of the shadow of death; have you? Psalm 23:4
Were you scared?
You should have been. I don’t question God, but you may want to consider yourself blessed.
You were fair game; 20 You see and recognize what is right but refuse to act on it. You hear with your ears, but you don’t really listen.” 21 Because he is righteous, the Lord has exalted his glorious law. 22 But his own people have been robbed and plundered, enslaved, imprisoned, and trapped. They are fair game for anyone and have no one to protect them, no one to take them back home.
Because of our denial of God, we were, robbed and plundered, enslaved, imprisoned, and trapped.
We make ourselves fair game when we walk in our own will.
Read commentary for 42:20-23
It’s one thing to deny God as we have, and find ourselves in scary situations, but it’s completely different when we are seeking Him.
That’s when we can add, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
No longer are we enslaved, imprisoned and trapped.
No longer are we fair game with no one to protect us.
