Today’s Verse: Romans 8:2 (NKJV)
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

There are two laws at work in this world and in every human life. One is the law of sin and death – the pull toward self, pride, rebellion, and ultimately separation from God. The other is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus – the very nature, will, and power of God to give eternal life to all who come to Him on His terms. Left to ourselves, we live by the law of self, protecting self, pampering self, and insisting on our own way, all under the shadow of sin and death. But in Christ, a greater law has been set in motion. The Spirit of life has broken the chains, overruled the sentence, and made us truly free. You are no longer doomed to be driven by the same old sins, fears, and patterns; the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is stronger than the law of sin and death.

So today, bring before the Lord anything that is “messing up” your marriage, your relationships, your thought life, or your walk with God, and lay it on the altar for Him to slay. Ask Him to expose where self is still ruling—self-protection, self-pity, self-indulgence—and to let the law of the Spirit of life rule there instead.
