Today’s Verse: Luke 18:13 (NKJV)
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
Today, come to the Lord like that tax collector, not the Pharisee. Lay down any secret hope that your “good behavior” earns you points, and bring Him your unworthiness, your failures, and the places where life feels too heavy for you to carry.
Confess your sin honestly, receive His mercy gladly, and remember that the heart He draws near to is the one that is broken, contrite, and done with self-righteousness. Ask Him to keep you so close that even a proud, selfish, or lustful thought is quickly rebuked and surrendered, and walk through this day resting in the simple, powerful truth that the God who forgives has already declared you justified in Christ.
