Today’s Verse: Daniel 1:8 (NKJV)
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”

Daniel was only a teenager when he was taken into captivity, but even then, he resolved in his heart not to compromise. Surrounded by temptation, pressured to conform, and offered the luxuries of a pagan king, he made a choice: to remain pure before God.

The same choice is before us daily. Will we indulge in what the world offers, or will we dedicate ourselves to the Lord? Daniel shows us that even in captivity, even when everything familiar was stripped away, faithfulness was possible and powerful.

So today, purpose in your heart not to defile yourself with the world’s temptations. Whether it’s lust, greed, fear, or compromise, surrender it to Christ. Ask Him for strength to walk in purity, boldness, and faith. The God who sustained Daniel is the same God who will sustain you!
