Today’s Verse: Hosea 14:3c (NKJV)
“For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”
You can have a biological father and still feel fatherless if he was absent, harsh, addicted, abusive, or simply emotionally unavailable. Many carry deep scars from a man who could biologically father a child but never truly became a dad. Into that ache, God reveals Himself as the perfect Father, the ultimate “Dad” to the fatherless, the One who sees, who understands, who heals, and who welcomes us with mercy instead of judgment.
God’s mercy not only rescues the fatherless, but it also calls earthly fathers to step up. Any healthy man can father a child, but only a man of faith, humility, and love will choose to be a dad: a servant, an anchor, a steady presence who protects, instructs, and reflects the heart of our Heavenly Father.
So today, if you carry wounds from a broken or absent father, bring that pain to the Lord and let Him be the One in whom you, the fatherless, find mercy. If you are a dad, ask God to forgive any harshness, distance, or selfishness, and to make you a merciful, steady, servant-hearted father who reflects His character in your home. Pray by name for your children and grandchildren, and for every young person you know who feels fatherless, that they would discover in God the Father they’ve always needed.
