If freedom is intrinsically a good thing then freedom is not the license to to what we want, but rather the ability to do what is good. People who try to live free by their own rules fall deeper and deeper into bondage. Those who acknowledge that they are not the center of the universe and accept a higher order find themselves at peace and truly free.
From Galatians chapter five, pastor Sam String show the progression of bondage that many people subject themselves to. We take a look at the liberty that is offered in Christ, its surety, but also the necessity of standing firm in it.
Outline:
Galatians 5:1-6
vs. 1a: Liberty in Christ
vs. 1b: Yoke of Bondage
vs. 2-4: Righteousness based on Works
vs. 5-6: Freedom through faith in Christ
Points:
Progression of Bondage:
1. Entangled
2. Relationship with Christ seen as unprofitable
3. Indebted to keep the whole law
4. Estrangement
The Path Out:
1. Vigilance
2. Responsibility (in contrast to to irresponsibility which leads to legalism or license)
3. Love

About the First Baptist Church of Littleton:
The first thing you will notice about our church is our small-town setting.
Littleton may be small but it has an amazing sense of community and family which has spilled over into our church. It’s not unusual to see us having fun together with fellowship and food, but also drawing closer together around the Bible. While holding a high view of God and His Word, we seek to draw attention to the life-changing message of the gospel by faithful preaching, teaching and practice of His Word both within our church and the communities God has allowed us to touch. The purpose of our church is to honor God (I Cor. 10:31) by…
Guiding people to an eternal relationship with God (Matthew 28:18-20)
Assimilating them into loving relationships for fellowship in the church (John 15:12,17; Romans 12:10)
Teaching them God’s Word so that they can live Christ-like lives (Acts 20:26-27)
Equipping them for ministry (Ephesians 4:12)
Promoting God-centered worship (John 4:23-24).
We invite you to come and get to know us and the God we serve.
