Unit 3 -- Strengthen Your Church (Titus 1:1 -- 3:15)
Look for Good Works (Titus 3:1-15)
Since I'm created in Christ for good works, what should I be doing?
1) Live Well Before Outsiders (3:1-3)
a. "outsiders" --
[14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
[15] For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. ~ Rev. 22:14-15
b. "foolish" --
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. ~ Psalm 53:1
2) Be Transformed by God's Salvation (3:4-8)
a. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8
b. "heirs" --
And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. ~ Phil. 4:3
3) Deal with Divisive People (3:9-11)
4) Be Devoted to Good Works (3:11-15)
a. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. ~ Eph. 2:10
b. [17] But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
[18] My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. ~ I John 3:17-18
c. "good works" - caring for needs of others. Greatest need --- salvation!
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? ~ Mark 8:36
