Title: Looking unto Jesus
Text: Hebrews 12:1-3
Luke 3:22
Luke 12:25-31
Psalm 1:1-3
Proverbs 13:20
Philippians 4:8
The good thing about the Name of Jesus is that, you don't need anybody to anoint you, to be able to access that Name. All you need is Salvation and then you can access that Name anytime, anywhere.
There is no miracle/testimony that we are trusting God for, that Jesus Christ hasn't done before, and He is still doing those miracles now, and He will still continue to do them in future because, He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
The Christian life can be compared to running. It is a race where one is determined, prepared and has a focus/target.
Looking unto Jesus is not just one look. It is a continuous looking unto Him for Strength, Grace, Wisdom and Knowledge.
One of the common dangers to the Christian life is relapse - Galatians 3:3.
If you have started with God, and God has given you a job/home/life/family, there is a need for you to keep looking unto Him to sustain them. It is better for you not to have something, than to have it and then lose it. The shame you face will be greater when you have something and lose it, than when you don't have it at all.
Stick to the Name of Jesus and it will definitely do wonders in your life.
If God has said something about you, it will come to pass no matter how long it takes, but He needs us to be focused on Him - Lamentations 3:37, Numbers 23:19, Joshua 21:45.
Focus on Jesus. Focus on where you are now, and where He is taking you.
The only One that you need is Jesus. Your help and whatever you need, is in the hands of Jesus.
How you can keep your eyes on Jesus
1) Surround yourself by a cloud of witnesses (believers/like minded people/people that have gone ahead of you/people that have witnessed the power and goodness of God/those that will help you find your faith, when you are losing it/people that will challenge you) - when things get tough, you need people that will remind you of the testimonies that you have shared with them. If you don't have that kind of associates, you will easily draw back. We need the kind of people that will tell us, that the only way out is the Name of Jesus, no matter what is going on. Even Jesus surrounded Himself with people of a like-mind - John 6:65-69. Who are your associates? Who are the people that you look up to, when you face the issues of life? Are they the people that remind you of who Christ is?
2) Strip off unnecessary weights and sin that easily besets you - Strip off the weights of competition and comparison. Sin will rob you of your confidence and joy in God. The devil is not interested in what God has said concerning you, or the promises God has for you. he is interested in you, not being in a relationship with God, seeing God as an enemy, and in seeing God and running away. he is looking to steal, to kill and to destroy. Strip yourself off of past mistakes because, old things have passed away, and all things have become new. God has forgiven you and written it off.
3) Be ready to endure - Endurance is the ability to endure difficult situations without giving in. It is also tolerance, acceptance, and the capacity to withstand wear and tear. God will not give a great assignment to un-tested soldiers. Run away from people who have glory, but don't have a story because, it might be that, they are getting it by other means, and it will not last. God is making you pass through whatever you are going through now, to equip you for where He wants to put you because, there are some things that God wants to strip away Himself - 1 Peter 5:10.
4) Make Jesus your role model - 1 Corinthians 11:1. Christ should be your watch word. There is absolutely nothing, that we are going through, that Christ hasn't gone through.
