In last week’s Gospel, Jesus taught His 12 apostles, and us, that because of the corruption of the world and its inherited hatred of the purity of the Gospel, sharing the Bible’s message of the repentance of sin and the forgiveness of it in the name of Jesus, can sever even the closest of ties, even turning the members of the same household into mortal enemies.

This morning we continue with that same theme, and while what we learned last week was certainly a difficult teaching from Jesus, what the Holy Spirit presents to us now seems to be one of the most problematic teachings that Jesus ever taught!
