Love is a strong theme in I John 3 and 4. Truth is, we are what we love. So we’re not to love the world or anything in it; rather, our affections are to be for God. And we can know what love is because God himself is love. Motivated by God’s great love for us shown in Jesus, the only fitting response is to love him back and to love others well.
