We are living in pretty dark times. When I think of being a parent in today's world, I can't imagine it's easy. However, I think today's verses are a message that kids need to hear. Death is not what we should ultimately be scared of. Death comes to us all, and people can kill us in this life but they have no control over the eternity that comes next. However, GOD does! He is the only one we should truly fear. In the face of threats such as school shootings and ISIS, those in the line of fire are not the ones who should be NEARLY as scared. Those doing the harm...they should be terrified. I hope today's song leads to worthwhile discussions in families, and is a reminder that God is always the one in control. The more fear we place in Him, the more our other fears will fade away.
P.S....today's song is a bit...intense. Brandon and I were trying to figure out how to make it less frightening for little kids. I had the idea to dress/look very girly and feminine, and then he had the idea to shoot it in my sweet, innocent looking room that I grew up in. However...we then realized that some people might actually be MORE scared...if they happen to be scared of porcelain dolls! Haha, oops! Sorry if we ended up making it more creepy for some of you!
Today's verse: Luke 12:4-5 (NLT) - Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that. But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. Yes, he’s the one to fear.
This verse was taken from today's Bible reading in The One Year Bible (NLT). Read along with us! Today's passages are:
Deuteronomy 29:1-30:20
Luke 11:37-12:7
Psalm 78:1-31
Proverbs 12:19-20
