Take It With You!

Here we will offer thoughts and meditations on the message to help us as we contemplate and discuss and wrestle with what we are hearing.

In the parables...the coming of the Kingdom is a coming in defenselessness. The planning of God is exposed and vulnerable. Birds can devour it, the sun can wither it, and the thorns can choke it (13:1-9). The householder cannot prevent the enemy from sowing weeds where he has sown wheat (13:24-30). God, it would seem, has no nets that can selectively catch only good fish; His fishermen haul in good and bad alike (13:47-50). And yet - the failure of the seed indicts the soil, not the sower and not the seed; the good seed on good soil bursts forth in bounty. If the devil sows weeds among the wheat, that is a sure sign that the wheat is God's planting, for that proud spirit attacks only the works of God. And the event proves it so; though men have no authority to execute judgment and uproot the devil's weeds, yet at the close of the age the Son of man will execute judgment, bum the weeds, and bring home His wheat. The nets of God that gather good and bad alike sweep toward shore, and the eternal sorting comes.

...He shall bring justice to victory; He shall make the right and good and holy will of God everywhere prevail, so that all nations find their sure ground of confidence in Him (12:20,21).
