Matthew 25:1-13 Sermon Notes

Jesus did not call the Ten Maidens Evil and Good
but rather Foolish and Wise.

Psalm 14:1 - The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
Psalm 110:11 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;

Foolish God Belief Known Locked Out

Final Destiny
Wise God Belief Known Marriage Feast

Matthew 15:10-12 - And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he replied, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

Theme #1 - Every thing that is Concealed will be Revealed.

12 But he replied, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

Know - oida - to possess information about, to be acquainted with.

Theme #2 - Some things that are Personal will never be Corporate.

The Oil cannot be shared -
Matthew 25: 8,9 - And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise replied, ‘Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’

What is the Oil? Our Personal Faith and it cannot be shared.

The Christian Faith is personal and corporate
never private or individual.

“There are no grandchildren in heaven, only children.”

It’s good to have the Oil!

What is the Oil? To Believe. The Gospel.

The Gospel is the Good News of the
Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We Proclaim in the Holy Eucharist -

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died
Christ is risen
Christ will come again.

Conc - Are you wise? Do you have the oil?
