(Matthew 6: 14-15) - FORGIVENESS IS A DUTY. IF YOU DO NOT FORGIVE, IT WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN.
14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, your Father will not forgive your trespasses.
Dear brothers in Christ, it is with great joy that we are studying the word of God together with you, in the presence of the CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, in the presence of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, and in the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT.
After the angel Lucifer rebelled in heaven, we began what we call offenses, do something that harms and can even destroy other people, consciously or unconsciously.
The word of God calls this practice of harming others in MAL. EVIL is present on this planet because here is installed the kingdom of the evil one.
Sometimes people hurt someone, and they do not even realize they have. After they have done evil, comes the result of evil. And then, people notice that his attitude was inconvenient and the result, lousy.
Then people have the opportunity to try to go back and minimize the suffering of the other. How is this possible?
When the person decides to ask for forgiveness for the act practiced that caused damage, or suffering for someone, then there comes the word forgiveness. Those who have made a mistake have the right to ask for forgiveness. Those who have been offended have the obligation to forgive.
BUT WHY DO YOU HAVE THE OBLIGATION TO FORGIVE?
Because all people somehow always end up hurting someone. And when this happens, those who have suffered are always in dependence on forgiveness. That is, in the need to be forgiven. So when we offend we need forgiveness. And when we are offended we need to forgive.
In today's study, in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 6, verse 14 and 15. JESUS CHRIST relates both situations very well. The one who has offended, and who needs to be forgiven, and the one who has been offended needs to give forgiveness.
In verse 14, he reports thus: "FOR IF YOU FORGIVE MEN YOUR OFFENSES, ALSO YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER, YOU WILL FORGIVE THEM YOURSELVES." See, dear brothers and sisters in Christ, why the need to forgive. Because if we forgive, we are releasing OUR GOD, to forgive us as well.
In verse 15: "IF, BUT FORGIVE NOT FORGIVING MEN THEIR OFFENSES, ALSO YOUR FATHER, YOU WILL NOT FORGIVE YOUR OFFENSES."
Dear brothers in CHRIST, when we do not forgive those who have offended us, we are automatically preventing OUR GOD from forgiving us. Because if we do not give the opportunity to the other, we are not giving forgiveness for us either. Because then, we will be committing the sin of iniquity.
We are not practicing equity, that is, what I desire for myself, I also desire for the other. What I want others to do for me, I must do for others as well. Moreover, brethren, whoever does not forgive can not be forgiven, for how can he who does not forgive go to heaven with him whom he has not forgiven?
To go to heaven, we can only go with all the celestial entourage, logically we can not have any pendency with anyone, if we do not solve here, as we will solve there in the sky. For there in the sky, there is no more like going back to nothing else. Therefore, brethren, we must forgive to be forgiven.
AMEN GLORY TO GOD.
