It's a new week!
Have a blessed one and sorry about last week. 2:5 did not post as it should.
Here you find the transcript:
------------
1 Timothy 2:6, “…who gave himself as a ransom for all men -- the testimony given in its proper time.”
Interesting points:
1. In this verse Paul drives home the point of how Jesus serves as the mediator between God and man: by becoming the ransom/payment for our sins. This action revealed God’s redemptive plan at His appointed time to reach all mankind according to His divine plan.
2. As Romans 6:23 reminds us, the wages of/penalty for sin is death. The animal sacrifices in the Old Testament pointed to Jesus’ death on the cross as payment for the sins of His people; therefore, Jesus -- 100 percent man and 100 percent God -- serves as our mediator with God by covering our sins with His blood, shed at Calvary.
3. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross bears testimony to the incredible love, mercy and grace of the Almighty God. God, by His nature, holy, does not adopt unrighteousness to Himself yet in His divinity, devised a means to purify and transform us sinners. The mediator -- Christ’s -- death on the cross reconciled His people to Him. And God’s perfect timing foresaw the perfect hour and era for spreading the Good News to the four corners of the earth according to His perfect plan.
Application.
Brothers, it is easy to lose sight that we have so much to be thankful for: our understanding of the Truth, that we so easily take for granted, is more complete because we have the Bible in its compiled entirety: the early Church did not. Here we see Paul re-emphasizing to Timothy the tenets of the Faith: the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who provided the Law to Moses, provided a way to reconcile His sin-prone people to Him -- through the blood of His Son.
So what shall we do with this Truth and the Good News of our redemption? Christ’s death provided God’s testimony at the proper time. May we be ever alert to provide testimony of who He is, what He has done, and how He stands ready for reconciliation with those that have yet to accept Him.
