John 21:4-6...they went fishing all night and came up empty...nothing, notta, nil. Oh nay nay, it was the wrong choice.
The Lord had honored them with a heaven sent message for the whole world. They were to be reaching for people, not for a livelihood. Jesus knew where they were, but did THEY know where they were. Probably not, so Jesus, standing at the edge of the sea, asked, "Have you got something to eat?" Their answer was, "No." The nets were empty.
They had expectations...the ones Jesus had trained them for as well as a boat full of fish. They were meeting neither. Jesus was about to help them, once again, on both fronts.
As with the early followers of Jesus, God's intentions for you are most likely far more grand than your intentions for you. Sometimes, we just don't see it because we find ourselves reacting to the unmet expectations we've created. In the middle of all that, the Lord want's us to remember a question he often asks, "Where are you? In fact, where are you when expectations go awry?"
