This video is a discussion on Jn.5:39, which mystics, such as Finalcall007 and others, appeal to as a proof text to defend their view that the written word isn't that important.
All modern versions mistranslated the verse to make it appear as if the Jews were wrong in thinking that the scriptures had eternal life in them. In fact, Christ commands them (imperative mood) to search the scriptures because they do contain eternal life.
They speak of Him, and Moses and all of the prophets wrote of Him.
The Modern Versions subtly change the meaning of the verse by changing the mood for the word 'search' from an imperative mood of command, to an indicative, which is simply a statement of fact.
Christ isn't just telling the Jews that they search the scriptures thinking (incorrectly) that they have eternal life,
He is commanding that they do so because they do contain eternal life since they point to Him.
