There are only two things in the church world that make the sanctuary go completely, stone-cold silent: a conversation about sex, or a conversation about money. God spoke about both of these topics more than He spoke about prayer. Money is not always our friend, and a simple lifestyle is not a bad thing, but money is not evil. We should be good stewards of all the resources God give to us.
