Today’s Gospel is one that The Church for centuries has set aside to hear and study on this first Sunday after Easter. It takes place on that first Easter Sunday evening after Jesus in His resurrected state has already, at this point, been seen four times, and now, He is seen by His ten disciples who are hiding behind locked doors because they were afraid that they were next in line to be arrested and killed.
