In Jesus’ final woe, He confronts the Pharisees’ pretentious fawning over the tombs of the prophets, as they promoted the very evil decried by the prophets. Jesus prophesies that their generation would experience the cumulative judgment for all the murdered prophets. Such words should cause us to ask, “Is God’s truth a lamp to our feet, or a stumbling block in our path?” We cannot sincerely follow God and simultaneously despise his truth and instruction.
