In James 1:5-8, we uncover our need to ask God for wisdom. We need God-given wisdom to live how God would want us to. God promises to give wisdom to believers who ask in full trust. It is easy to pray unconvincingly, but we can gain assurance by reminding ourselves that God keeps his promises. This should embolden us to pray regularly, confidently, and expectantly. However, God’s promise to give wisdom to those who ask applies to believers and not those who are “half in and half out”. We must examine whether we are double-minded or if we are fully devoted to the Lord.
