Matthew describes two different storms in this passage. One storm dealt with external circumstances, while the other was more internal. In the first scenario, the disciples allowed their negative emotions to overtake what they knew to be true about Jesus. In the second scenario, Jesus had to release demons from the inside of two men. Whether it was an exterior issue or an internal problem, Jesus cast out the difficult situations. When we trust in Jesus, the storms that are outside and inside will be settled.
Matthew 8:23-34
Did you know that you can choose how much of an impact negative emotions have on your life? What are you facing right now that you are gripped by, that you feel as if it has a strong hold on you?
Fully trust in God, allow Jesus to remove any external or internal storms from you, read the Word, and listen for the Holy Spirit’s voice. Pay attention as the Father’s peace calms the storm.
