Revelation 17:7-18
“The Mystery of the Beast”
1. There is a DESCRIPTION of the kingdom that the Woman rides on.
Vs. 7-8
1. The beast is described with seven heads and ten horns.
explained in vs. 9
2. The beast is described as one who will ascend out of the demonic realm.
The "bottomless pit" is the habitat of demonic spirits.
3. The beast is described as one will go to destruction.
2 Thess 2:8-9, Rev 19:20-21
Who is the beast that is destroyed that goes to perdition?
It is the anti-Christ.
4. The beast is described as one who will cause the earth dwellers to be amazed.
2. The DURATION of the world kingdoms is revealed.
Vs. 9- 13
2a. The DURATION of the world kingdoms is described as seven mountains.
The use of "king" to refer to a kingdom better fits both Old and New
Testament prophecies.
The beast with seven heads represents world government throughout
human history
2b. The DURATION of five were in the past.
Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece
2c. The DURATION of one was in John’s day.
One is in existence- Rome
2d. The DURATION of the future kingdom would be limited.
The other king had not yet come -It will be a Revived Roman Empire
In Daniel 7, he describes the coming kingdoms of the world as horns.
Dan 7:8
We are introduced to the "little horn".
This is the 'anti christ, the man of sin, the coming world leader, the coming
prince."
Dan 7:24-25
3. The DOWNFALL of the last ten kings will be the war with the Lamb.
Vs. 14
3a. It will be their DOWNFALL because He is the Lord of
Lords and the King of Kings.
Ps 2:1-3
3b. It will be their DOWNFALL and those with the Lamb will
see it. Rev 19:14
4. The last ten kings will DESTROY the false religious system.
Vs. 15-18
4a. The ten kings will DESTROY this last world religious
system.
Vs. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on*
the beast,
Should be “and the beast”
When religion is no longer useful, it will be destroyed.
4b.The DESTRUCTION of the last religious system is
described.
It is possible that the destruction of the woman will come at the middle
of the tribulation period or shortly thereafter.
4c. This DESTRUCTIOIN will take place according to the
word of God.
17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill
His purpose
4d. The DESTRUCTION is of the woman, who is a city.
Here’s what we do know;
This system is no friend of true believers.
The false religious systems of this world have killed the saints and
the prophets.
It foster religion and opposes a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ.
It promotes its own doctrines and opposes the clear teaching of the
word of God.
