Dan 3:1-30
“The Fiery Furnace for Nebuchadnezzar”
1. Nebuchadnezzar’s Answer to God’s revelation.
Vs. 1-7
1a. He answered by setting up an image of gold.
Notice the size of the image.
90 feet high by 9 feet wide
1b. He answered by demanding his officials worship the image of gold.
1c. He answered by determining the penalty for not worshipping.
All will be to be thrown into a fiery furnace.
Here is the condition of the human heart.
Man wants to worship the works of his own hand.
This reminds us of the last world ruler who will also demand to be worshipped.
Ps 137:1-6
2. Nebuchadnezzar is confronted by Authentic faith.
Vs. 8-18
2a. Authentic faith brought confrontation with the ruling priest.
At this time the ruling class of priest came forward and denounced the Jews.
Acts 5:28-30
What did they do?
Acts 5:40-42
Paul said that we are to submit to the governing authorities.
Rom. 13:1
And we should but there are times when we must obey God rather than man.
2b. Authentic faith brought confrontation from an emotional Nebuchadnezzar.
Furious with rage Nebuchadnezzar questions Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
Are the charges true?
2c. Authentic faith does not waiver in times of testing.
 Their commitment to the Lord did not demand an answer.
 Their confidence is in the Lord.
God could save them from the furnace but even if he doesn’t he will save us
from you.
Matt 10:27-28
 Their conviction would not be changed.
3. Nebuchadnezzar is Amazed by the miraculous.
Vs.19-30
3a. He was furious and changes his attitude.
Do you think that Nebuchadnezzar was intimidating?
He order the furnace heated 7 times hotter
3b. He is amazed and changes his mind
He now sees 4 men in the furnace.
They are unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.
Hebrews 13:5-6
3c. He is amazed that God would rescue them.
 He is amazed because they are not harmed in any way.
Ps 91
 He is amazed and Praised the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
Nebuchadnezzar never humbled himself or repented from his sins.
2 Cor 7:9-11
But God has not given up on Nebuchadnezzar.
