part 2
Genesis 49:13-33
1. There is a prediction of INTERNATIONAL trade.
Vs. 13
So what is this saying about Israel in the future?
There will be a spread of influence in the world economically as we note the ships that are
going in and out.
Deut 33:18-19
2. There is a loss of INDEPENENCE for the Jewish people.
Vs.14-15
So Jacob says in the future Israel will become slaves and they will be burdened.
And of course the greatest problems for the Jewish State lie ahead.
Jesus speaks of it in Luke 21.

Luke 21:20-24
So what is the times of the Gentiles?

This refers to the rule of Jerusalem.

The word times, does not refer to chronological time.The word refers to seasons of times
and suggests gaps in time. This could refer to different kinds of nations that have
controlled Jerusalem in the past.

When will the times of the Gentiles be over or fulfilled?
Rom 11:25-27

Zech 12:10-11
3. There will be a tribe that becomes INFAMOUS for causing his brothers to stumble.
Vs. 16-17
What does Dan do to make Israel stumble or fall backwards?
Dan becomes the prominent place of idol worship after the two kingdoms were split.
1 Kings 12:25-29
How will this be fulfilled in the Last Days?
What we do know is that in the future the anti Christ will cut a deal or covenant with Israel
for a 7 year period. So the Judges or Leaders of Israel will have a hand in directly causing
idol worship to be brought into the temple of God.
4. There is a brief moment of INTERCESORY prayer.
Vs. 18
Many see verse 18 as prayer intercession
5. There is an INITIAL failure that will lead to a complete triumph.
Vs. 19-21
The prediction concerning Gad seems to indicate that for Israel things will not look too
good in the future; but in the end they will triumph.
There will also be rich blessings in the future for Israel.
Naphtali is seen as a dear who is set free. The deer is usually a picture of a blessing and
this triumph or victory will be a blessing to the nation of Israel.
6. There will be INCREDIBLE blessing in the future.
(As we look at what Jacob says about Joseph)
Vs. 22-27
 There will be suffering before the blessing
 Then we see the strength for Israel.
When was Jacob himself made strong by the mighty God?
Well, we saw that back in chapter 32, it was when Jacob wrestled or struggled all
night. Jacob had to learn to trust in the strength of the Lord.
We read earlier in Zechariah that the nation will turn to the Lord at the end of the
tribulation.
Zech 13:8-9
Who was the Angel that Jacob wrestled with all night?
We know it was an appearance of Jesus Christ.
Who will make Israel strong?
It will be Jesus Christ, their Messiah.
 Then there will be blessings
There are number blessings that are mentioned here.
They will be fulfilled in the Last Days.
 The last brother plays a part in this prediction.
Here, Benjamin is seen fulfilling the establishment of the kingdom.
Jesus speaks of the place of Israel’s patriarchs in that kingdom.

7. The INHERITANCE of the Land is the bases for a final command.
Vs. 28-33
Notice in verse 29 Jacob charged them with a command.
Why is he doing this?
It is because he believes the promises of God.
He believed that one day they would inherit the land.
