The “looting” or the plundering of God’s people throughout Scripture is presented to us as a form of God’s judgment and discipline. So, when we see the frequent looting in the Bible, we can understand God is disciplining His people and inviting them toward a breakthrough—an opportunity to be different. Breakthroughs require change on the part of those who benefit. If we take God’s interventions but continue our way, we give momentum to destruction—to looting. Scripture invites us to humble ourselves, repent, and realign with God’s purposes. Then, God will help us, and He will stop the looting.
