Emotional pain, spiritual pain, physical pain, mental pain, social pain. It hurts. But I want to tell you something. Pain has purpose. Yeah. We want to get away from pain. We want to escape it by working harder or shopping more online or gambling or gaming or drinking or other substances to try and reduce the pain.
We want to get away from pain! But no matter what kind of pain we're dealing with, pain has one job, and the job is this: "Something's wrong!" "Please check me out." It's a megaphone, as C.S. Lewis says in his book, The Problem with Pain.
It's God's megaphone saying, "Please investigate a bit further. Something's off. Something's sore. Something's broken.
