Proverbs 14:23
"Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!"

I'm such a fan of everything in Proverbs. So simple, and so true. Work always leads to a profit and it should. Biblically, to profit is okay. You must actually do stuff, however. Taking action. That is what is rewarded. You've heard the saying, "talk is cheap." Well, so are the rewards for talk, they are cheap and do really nothing; deeds are what offer the true reward. I mentioned the other day, "don't talk about it, be about it…" Now at the time, I wasn't referring to this, but, it's fitting. Mostly here, I believe the verse refers to worldly profit… I.e. dollars and materials. But, keep in mind - often hard work is rewarded with time, gifts, status, wisdom, honor, and recognition. With the intangible, sometimes you may have the ability to give even more in areas where it's needed.
