Confident Backslider?
Sure in his own mind that he is still totally faithful to God.
But if she is honest in evaluating her life honestly she may be surprised.
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, But the LORD weighs the motives.
You may be spiritual on the surface but you know your heart.
Where is your heart when you test these four areas?
How’s your prayer life?
Remember prayer is not just running down your grocery list of wants and needs but rather the emphasis is on spending time with God, sharing your joys and concerns with Him, looking for insights from Him on how you should handle special situations.
I. Job 15: 4 "Indeed, you do away with reverence And hinder meditation before God.
Compare the time that you spend each day in prayer with the maximum habits of your past. You may be spending more time in prayer now than last year but were there other times in your life when you choose to spend more time talking with your Father in Heaven?
IS YOUR PRAYER LIFE BACKSLIDDEN?
II. Is recurring sin becoming a problem in your life?
Jer 14:10 Thus says the LORD to this people, "Even so they have loved to wander; they have not kept their feet in check. Therefore the LORD does not accept them; now He will remember their iniquity and call their sins to account."
Yes, God does take note of when his people wander away and are not as faithful as in the past.
ARE YOU BACK SLIDDEN WHEN YOU COMPARE YOUR ACTIONS?
III. Ephesians 5:4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes--these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
Nothing wrong with Christians having fun but still possessing a sin nature we sometimes drift to the border line and beyond and say or do things that we would not think of saying in front of our mother or grandmother our father or grandfather or our Father in Heaven.
IF YOU LISTENED TO A RECORDING OF YOUR LAST WEEK WOULD YOU JUDGE YOURSELF BACKSLIDDEN?
IV. Hosea 8:12 Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law, They are regarded as a strange thing.
If you began as a new Christian with a starving attitude toward scripture and could not get your fill of it, do you still have that same appetite today or are you more in to “fast food” now, only on Sundays…
IF YOU SUBTRACTED LAST SUNDAY’S TIME IN SCRIPTURE FROM YOUR WEEKLY TIME IN SCRIPTURE WOULD IT REVEAL THAT YOU ARE BACKSLIDDEN?
Remember, this a personal evaluation to see if you qualify as backslidden by your own standards.
Are you really please with the life that you are living before God your Father?
