Rather than judging the slothful person in this passage, I want to approach the passage as if it were a field trip.

Life is a field trip
Look for the object lessons
Be sure to pass

In many ways, I think the difference between the successful person and the one who is unsuccessful is one of learning from their field trips in life.

The successful person learns lessons he puts into practice every day of his life
The unsuccessful person just sleeps through, gossips through or parties through his field trips and never gets the lessons God teaches in daily life.
