32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise,
And do not disdain it. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord; 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death.”
This is our text today and Proverbs 8 is presented by Solomon as if wisdom were a person, speaking to the reader. These closing verses are especially fascinating because they have such a New Testament ring to them. It could be said that Jesus taught the same things in His own words.
It is no wonder since Jesus is referred to as "The power of God and the wisdom of God" in 1 Corinthians 1:24. We also know from Colossians 1:19 we read "For it pleased the Father that in Him (Jesus) all the fullness should dwell." so, as we do each week, we will look at the teaching of Solomon in Proverbs and see direct parallels in the New Testament. In particular the words of Jesus who is God in the flesh. Wisdom is but one of the many attributes of Jesus we see in scripture and we know that as the Colossians passage states, in Him all the fullness dwells.
