Psalm 118:1 and 14-15ab, 16-18, 19-21 ‘I will give thanks to You’ is a psalm of thanksgiving to God on the occasion of deliverance from danger and answering the prayers. The psalm presents Him as the source of strength and subject of praise.

R/- I will give thanks to You, for You've answered my plea, Alleluia.

1. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His mercy endures forever.
My strength and my courage is the Lord,
And He has been my saviour.
The joyful shout of victory
In the tents of the just.

2. The right hand of the Lord is triumphant
Yes, His right hand has raised me up.
I shall not die, but live, and declare
The mighty works of God.
Yes, though the Lord has chastised me,
He has not let me die.

3. Open to me the gates of justice;
I will enter them and thank the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord;
The just shall enter it.
I'll thank You Lord You've answered me
Yes, You have been my saviour.
