Psalm 51 : 17 (NIV-'11)

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise.

The music for this verse was composed by my daughter.
A simple verse but challenging application.

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7b NIV)
"I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind..." (Jer 17:10a NIV).
It is with this in mind that we know that God will accept us fully if we approach Him with a heart of true repentance and humility.

This is a constant struggle for myself (and maybe some of you) as pride always gets in the way. Let us then reflect upon our relationship with Him and ask that He search our hearts and make it ever true.

Indeed, only a broken and contrite heart, God will not despise.
