Psalm 89:51 Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O Lord ; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.
Reproach biblically is a reference to what sin causes. Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
What can the enemy accuse/reproach with, if there is no sin? For you and I, he has boat loads of reasons (sins) to reproach us with, but, in this verse, the anointed one (Jesus), his footsteps (his walk = his life) was reproached. But how given that he is sinless? In fact, he challenged anyone to prove otherwise:
John 8:46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? ....
Even Pilate said: Luke 23:4 ....I find no fault in this man.
How then could he be reproached?
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
He was *"made to be sin"* who *"knew no sin"* so WE can *"be made righteous"*.
He took what's ours (death, reproach, sin, etc) and gave us what is his (righteousness, life, etc). If you are a partaker in this exchange, join me in giving him praise.. by saying "Hallelujah to the Lamb" ???????? for he has made us righteous and redeemed us to God by his blood.
