Consider it pure joy, this is what James tells us to do;
As we consider what that would mean for us, we might well need to ask,
if joy is a passing emotion or a permanent state?
Is joy something that comes and goes or can it be a constant?
The Bible, the Scripture, tells us it can be both.
There is joy that reacts to happenings, things that happen around us,
(this kind of happiness is both temporary and volatile),
then there is joy that overrules happenings, our day by day challenges, our struggles
(this is a joy that is strong and lasting).
Joy based on happenings is part of life, those things we experience,
but if that is all we can count on
we will have to keep feeding ourselves with events to keep us upbeat,
to keep us joyful.
Those of us who know the joy that comes from knowing God
shouldn’t need events or happenings to keep us happy, keep us joyful.
