Annie Dillard wrote that we often come to worship without "the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blithely invoke." But along with this loss of awe, we also seem to have forgotten the language of intimacy with God. But today's reading on the Transfiguration of the Lord may address both awe and intimacy.
