Removing the Baals from Our Lives
Judges 6:25-32

The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted all of our lives. We are reminded daily of the latest statistics of how many new cases have been confirmed and deaths attributed to COVID. All of us have been inconvenienced personally. And our nation has been further impacted socially and culturally in ways that aren’t receiving a lot of media attention at present.

• Today our focus will be upon a couple of things. One, is there any good that can be found in the COVID pandemic? Romans 8:28 would certainly say there is. And two, if there is, what could that be?
• We’ll find our answer in a country that was going through its own national crisis 3500 years ago during the time of Gideon…in what God was doing.

1. Gideon (and Israel) in God’s classroom

• A review of the call of Gideon (6:12, 14, 16, 24)…

• Gideon’s first big responsibility (verses 25-27)…

• The reaction of the men of the city (verses 28-29)…

• A revival of sorts (verses 31-32)…

2. You and me in God’s classroom…lessons from Gideon…

#1 – Baals in our lives rob God of His glory and us of His blessings.

#2 – Baals don’t crash into our lives; they drift into our lives.

#3 – Hardships and suffering are often God’s tools for eliminating the Baals from our lives.
