The last few weeks we have been learning about the Thessalonian church and why Paul is thankful for them, and this week we look into how they turned away from idols to serve God. Thessalonica was very close to Mount Olympus, so the presence of idol worship was very strong in the area. Every member of the church had grown up in a society that focused on false gods, and every one of them had turned away from the religion they had followed before and began to pursue the one God of Christianity, the God that they grew to know as the only true and living God.
Enjoy this study by Pastor Nathan Hamre where we use the members of the Thessalonian church as examples to learn more about what it really means to repent of former sin and pursue God in all that we do.
