The world is full of conflicting opinions. Is it possible to know what is true and what is not? If so, how can we discern the difference? People use various methods to determine truth. For some, their experience is the deciding factor. Others accept or reject a certain reality based on their emotions. A few even trust their instincts or gut feelings. Most people accept what they have been told if it came from a trusted source. Religious leaders used to be considered the most trusted authority on matters of truth, but a recent Gallup poll revealed that only 39% of people believe pastors have a high ethical standard.
Satan’s chief weapon against humanity is deception. His agents misrepresent themselves in order to appear as the unique proclaimers of truth. For that reason, there are many warnings in Scripture about false teachers and false prophets. In the last days, these deceivers will work overtime to undermine the truth of the gospel and faith in Jesus Christ. During the tribulation, a religious leader described as another beast will arise, perform great signs, and cause the world to follow the Antichrist. This leader, often referred to as the False Prophet, will be accepted by the masses as the greatest authority for truth. He will then prohibit everyone from buying or selling unless they worship the beast and have his mark on their right hand or forehead.
This Sunday, we continue our study through the exciting book of Revelation. Pastor David will teach about the False Prophet, the future religious leader who will influence the world. Be sure to join us to as we examine God’s admonitions to His people about being guarded from deception. Make sure you know the truth and are ready to reject the lie, so you do not take the mark!
