Many Christians think that the only commandments that we are supposed to follow is to "love God", and "love thy neighbor".
But "love" means different things to different people. There needs to be a clear definition. Thank God, we have one. It's found in the scriptures. It says to love God is to OBEY Him i.e. to obey His commandments.
God knows the end from the beginning. He never changes (Malachi 3:6). Therefore the commandments brought down through Moses came from the same unchangeable God as Jesus. God never needed to "upgrade" or "update" because He always knew best. And He is perfect in all His words from Genesis to Revelation.
Jesus never changed the commandments of old. Rather, He expounded upon them, and drove their meaning DEEPER in your life and practice. Blessings as you listen!
