Paul writes to the church in Ephesus and starts by saying they are saints in Christ. A Christian's identity is primarily saint, not sinner. You will sin some of the time, but you are a saint all of the time in Christ. Saints are convicted of sin, not condemned by sin. Saints are empowered to say no to sin, by God's grace, not enslaved to say yes to sin when temptation comes. Because Jesus took their punishment for sin, in the end, saints will be perfected, not punished.
