When people ask questions, sometimes they are seeking information, but other times they are up to something completely different. Jesus' opponents often asked him questions, questions designed to trap him, to box him in, to make him look foolish. In today's gospel, it's a question about resurrection. It doesn't work, of course, in large part because Jesus understands resurrection on a much bigger level than his questioners, and maybe us as well.
