INTRODUCTION
Open your heart. Seeking is an exercise of the heart. Close your eyes and pray. When you seek God, He’s your FIRST priority. You don’t fit prayer in your day. You fit your day around PRAYER. Be still. It’s in the stillness that Jesus meets us when we seek him. One of the most notable Bible verses about seeking Jesus with all your heart is in Jeremiah, but there are many others.
• Jeremiah 29:13
• Deuteronomy 4:29
• 1 Chronicles 16:10
• 1 Chronicles 22:19
• 1 Chronicles 28:9
• 2 Chronicles 12:14
• Psalms 14:2
• Psalms 34:10
Pursue a relationship with Jesus by seeking Him out. Christians may believe their relationship with God is satisfactory. TO EVERYONE, seeking JESUS entails making a concerted effort to learn more.
In every relationship, we harvest what we sow, and Jesus is no exception. As we obey and grow in the Word of God, we strengthen our relationship with Jesus. We don't pray out of habit; we pray from the heart and offer real words to God. He has our whole attention. By praying we make time for Jesus. That means we plan our days around Jesus rather than cramming Him in. We set aside time to be quiet and listen. Jesus wants us to seek first His kingdom and righteousness. Matthew 6:33
IT’S EASY TO FIND JESUS IN CHURCH.
Church services’ PURPOSE IS to draw people nearer to God not to have entertained them! 1 Corinthians 14:23-25
JESUS IS FOUND IN OBEDIENCE NOT JUST ATTENDING CHURCH.
Jesus will abide with us as we keep His commandments. John 14:21,23
Abide in the doctrine of Christ. 2 John 1:9 “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.”
Jesus is found when we obey His commands:
Such as the command to believe. Hebrews 11:6; Jn 8:24
Such as the command to repent of sins and be baptized in the Name of Jesus. Acts 2:38; John 3:3-6; Acts 19:1-5
Such as the command to confess Jesus before others. Romans 10:9-10
Such as the command to be baptized. Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38
In which we are united with Christ. Romans 6:3-4
When we are baptized, we put on Christ. Galatians 3:27
When we are saved it means to turn from sin, to obeying Jesus’ commandments and His Holy Word, living holy, loving each other and our enemies, and pleasing the Father in heaven.
JESUS CAN BE FOUND ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.
Even when you are at home alone in one's room, Jesus can be found through prayer. Matthew 6:6; Hebrews 4:13-16
Even when forsaken by all others. Jesus can be found in prayer. 2 Timothy 4:16-17
FINDING JESUS, WE MUST SERVE HIM.
For this reason, we were cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 9:14
For this reason, we are receiving an unshakable kingdom. Hebrews 12:28
We will continue to serve God in eternity. Revelation 7:15; 22:3
What good is it to find Jesus if we do not serve Him?
WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE IN CHURCH.
As we offer the sacrifices of praise through song and prayer.
We do so through the fruit of our lips. Hebrews 13:15
As we edify one another through our assembling together.
We exhort one another by not forsaking our assembling together. Hebrews 10:24-25
We teach and edify one another in the songs we sing. Colossians 3:16
As we make intercession for others through praying.
If the prayer of one righteous man avails much, more so the prayers of many righteous. James 5:16
Seeking Jesus, we display our unity in one body. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17
Seeking Jesus, we minister to the needs of others through the collection. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
Seeking Jesus, we encourage others to give thanks to God. 2 Corinthians 9:12-13
CONCLUSION
We assemble at church for the opportunity to serve. To serve God through our acts of devotion. It will not matter whether we assemble with 10 people or 10,000. We still offer our service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! When we assemble with an attitude of giving worship and readiness to serve Jesus and our brethren. We get more out of the church service rather than coming to be entertained and get bored. Have you found Jesus through faith and obedience? Are you seeking Jesus?
May the words that I have spoken today move you to seek after Jesus and put Him on through baptism. Baptism is for the removal of your sins. May you find what you are seeking, and I pray what you are seeking is Jesus. He is looking to see if anyone seeking Him for salvation. Have a great week!
