"Set Apart"
And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the Lord who sanctifies you. (Leviticus 20.8)
The Lord has set you apart for holiness; are you living a holy life?
God had sanctified Israel, set them apart for holiness. They were to obey His commands. The Israelites were to live holy lives that reflected their identity as God’s chosen people. How did Israel respond? Sometimes they obeyed and were blessed. Sometimes they disobeyed and were punished. God demands obedience, and sin is always against God.
God has sanctified Christians, set them apart for holiness. As children of God, we are to obey His commands. We are to be like Christ. At the moment of salvation, God declares us righteous. He sets us apart for a holy life, and our whole life is now moving forward to being like Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. One day, that work will be complete when we see God face-to-face. Salvation, forgiveness of sin, is a guarantee for every Christian. Since Christ died for our sins, why should we live in it anymore (Romans 6:2)? God demands obedience, and sin is always against God.
Do you know who you are in Christ? You are a child of God that has been set apart for holiness. Does your life reflect that inward reality? If you sin, God is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). If you are not living a holy life, you need to repent. You need to turn back to God.
God, I thank You for setting me apart for holiness. Help me to obey You through the power of your indwelling Holy Spirit. Guide me through Your Holy Word. Reveal my sins for what they are. Please forgive me and empower me to be more like Christ. Thank You for loving me and forgiving me of all my sins. Amen.
