The shaking of heaven and earth in Hebrews 1:10-12 or the perishing of that old world is a highly disputed text. http://www.allthingsfulfilled.com/shakingofheavenandearth Many believe it is a reference to the physical or natural world. However, to the Hebraic mind, such a concept was unknown. They were steeped in the apocalyptic language of the Old Testament prophets and these phrases often meant the ruling civil authorities (heavens) and the people (the earth).

It was also used to refer to the Jewish temple and to the Jewish people with their ruling High priest and elders versus the people.

Our approach to the text will explore whether it is used covenantally (Old Covenant0 versus cosmically (material world).
