The writer of Hebrews uses many comparisons to show the greatness of Christ.

The first was to compare Jesus to the prophets. They would always say “Thus says the Lord…” Jesus simply said “Verily verily I say…”

Think of the greatest prophets. Elijah? He ran away when his life was threatened. Jesus didn't.

Or Isaiah? He cried “Woe is me, I am a man of unclean lips” when he saw God. Jesus challenged all to point out his sin.

Secondly, Jesus is compared to angels. For all their splendor and majesty and power, Jesus is greater.

Third, in all creation, nothing is greater than Christ because it was all made through him.

And in comparison to God… He is the express image. Every attribute, every name, every glory.

One more thing… He is great in his compassion.
