It's sermon #4 in our Winter Revival 2021 and Dr. John Hamblin begins preaching from Acts 27:44 with a message entitled "Strength, Solace & Stamina". He outlines his assignment with a quote: "One phrase that will get you through all the storms of life". In our walk with Christ, we'll encounter spiritual tempests that we must endure to survive. In this chapter of Acts we're told about Paul's sea voyage to Rome. Here we find the account of an enormous storm at sea that threatens the life of all on the ship used to deliver Paul to Rome. We see that Paul was delivered by God by his and by the actions of those around him to make it to shore safely. The evangelist states: "If just one servant of God made it through his physical storm, then every saint of God can make it through their spiritual storm!"
A tempest in our life doesn't have to be our tombstone. We can make it through the storms of our life. Here are ten practical things a believer can do to see the conclusion of their tempest:
1. HAVE PRAYER (Acts 27:21)
2. HEED PREACHING (Acts 27:21 & Acts 27:9-11)
3. HUNT A PROMISE (Acts 27:23-24)
4. HABITUATE PRAISE (Acts 27:25 & Acts 27:22)
5. HONE PATIENCE (Acts 27:29)
6. HITCH ONTO PERSEVERANCE (Acts 27:31)
7. HOLD ONTO PRUDENCE (Acts 27:34)
8. HATCH A PLAN (Acts 27:39)
9. HARD PADDLE (Acts 27:43)
10. HOPE IN PROVIDENCE (Acts 27:44)
Christians will experience tempests that will test us all. Relying on God with the lessons learned from Luke's account of Paul's sea voyage to Rome gives us all hope that we can see the termination of our personal tempests without our demise.
