Often you can describe the worst moments in life with one word: hopeless. When we are without hope, it is likely that we are aiming our lives at the wrong thing; we are looking for hope in the wrong places. Only the gospel can truly give us hope! God’s promises are the only food that can truly strengthen us!

This is a WELS sermon on the readings from Year B Pentecost 12: We are constantly tempted to worship the physical, the visible, and the temporal and to despise the spiritual, the invisible, and the eternal. Readings are 1 Kings 19:3-8; Hebrews 5:11-6:3; and John 6:41-51.
