Topic: Today is the day of good news.
Text: 2 Kings 7:9 ; 2 Kings 6:24-25; 2Cor. 5:17

The Israelites here were greatly oppressed by the Syrians to the extent of the deplorable condition ( 2 Kings 6:25 ). When Elisha was the prophet. There was such a severe famine in the land that people began to kill and eat their children for food.
Backsliding and SIN brought this terrible condition of defeat upon them. God’s presence that goes with them to fight their battles folded up ( Deut. 32:30; 2 Kings 7:1-16). But when it was time, God arose in His own wisdom to deal with that situation.
Why is today a day of good news?
1. Jesus had paid the price once for all. 1Pet. 3:18
A. Sin brings woes and leaves man to perpetual bruising by the enemy. Rom. 3:23, 24-26; 5:15,19; 2Cor. 5:21; Jn. 1:29 ;Number 5:1-3
B. He is the messiah. Ps. 68:20 ; Rom. 16:20
2. He had terrified the enemy. 2 Kings 7: 6-7; Prov. 28:1; Col. 2:14-15
3. The Lord had shut the gate of penury and had opened the gate of surplus. 2 Kings 7:14-16; Col. 2:15; Eph. 1:3
4. Christ arose. Rom. 4:25
5. He had gone up. Ps. 118:24 ; Rom. 8;34; Heb. 9:24 ;
Conclusion: Be for Jesus Christ now so as to be the partaker. Acts 3: 19-20
